Hey, thanks for starting this group/ area of discussion for special needs. My son is 10 and has autism. It’s hard. It’s not the kind of autism that’s shown on tv either... Anyway, thanks again!!

I have a son who I think is pretty high functioning. In theory, we are being trained how to incorporate the principles of behavior analysis into everyday life and apply them when necessary with him. In practice, I forget more than I learn. But the purpose of the training is to end his intensive behavioral services. I think this is their way of saying he's doing well.

My ds doesn't have asd  but does have adhd, GAD,  and dmdd. He's bussed an hour away because our local school didn't have an appropriate placement. He's unpredictable and explosive.  He's medicated at 10 and in behavior therapy. I never know what kid I'm going to get. It's hard and I'm in it all alone.
