Because we HAVE a wall.  It doesn't need to be replaced.

Visa Overstays Outnumber Illegal Border Crossings, Trend Expected to Continue

The majority of immigrants settling in the U.S. without authorization are first coming to the country legally, raising questions about the effectiveness of President Donald Trump's plan to build a wall on the U.S.-Mexican border.

Crossing the border is not the way "the large majority of persons now become undocumented," the Center for Migration Studies (CMS) said in a recent report. Two-thirds of those who joined the undocumented population did so by entering with a valid visa and then overstaying their period of admission, the center repored.

Overstays have exceeded those entering illegally every year since 2007, and there have been half a million more overstays than illegal entries since 2007.

The study by the CMS divides the 2014 population into two groups: those who enter with a valid temporary visa, but subsequently “overstay” and establish residence in the U.S. without authorization and those who “enter without inspection” (EWI) through the southern border without proper immigration documents.

According to the report, in 2014, 42 percent of all undocumented persons in the U.S. were “overstays.” Of those who arrived or joined the undocumented population in 2014, 66 percent were overstays.
This trend is expected to continue.
The CMS has previously reported on the dramatic decline in the U.S. undocumented population between 2008 and 2014.

That dang wall is not necessary.  The issues are with the legal route. That is where change needs to take place.  A wall is not going to stop people.
Besides,  he had ample time and opportunity to fund his pipe dream during the 2 years prior to the Dems taking Congress. He's only interested now because of the Dems taking over Congress.

Is it important to keep people from Nebraska out of Kansas?  Why not?

Yes, let's just kill random people fleeing violence in their country.   That'll fix everything.  What a **** joke.

We don't need to waste BILLIONS of dollars on an unnecessary monument to the fucktard currently holding our country hostage.  The fucktard doesn't want the wall anyway, he wants the FIGHT for the wall.  He was offered $25 billion last year & he turned it down.

Most criminals and drugs come through legal points of entry.  An interesting fact is that the number of HS officers at the legal entry points is well below what the department recommends.  So why not put funding into employing more officers, who can do more to make sure that those crossing at these places are not moving drugs across the border?

The number of people illegally crossing the southern border is at the LOWEST point it has been since Nixon was president.   Three times more people cross the northern border illegally, or overstay visas.

The whole wall bullshit was Trump playing to the lowest common denominator in his base and that's who he continues to play to.  It's not about making Americans safer, it's about his ego and him trying to fulfill one of his nonsensical promises.

This entire discussion is insane.  Tough drug and border enforcement are the reason drug cartels are now more powerful than the government in Mexico.  Having drugs be illegal is what causes the drug problems.  The laws are not lowering demand, at all, and prohibitions empower suppliers.

Drugs and people from other countries are not a problem.   If drugs are legal and society has good health systems, then people with drug problems get help without obstacles.  And where people happen to be standing at this moment, in relation to where they were born, is meaningless.   People could come here, find there is no hiring process for illegals, and go home.  But that is not what they find.

It is dumb and a waste of money. Most drugs coming into this country are coming in thru ports.

Of course. He needed a hot-button issue for his re-election campaign, and now he has one.

The many drugs come thru ports not the border. The wall is a huge waste of money.

I live in Philadelphia. Kensington is the #1 area for opioid abuse. The opioids did not come from the border. It comes thru ports. A wall wouldn’t do **** here.

The exorbitant amount of money that Ind.#1 wants to spend on the wall could be spent in much better ways. Plus, the U.S. **needs** more people/immigrants. Our country isn't full; that's just one of Ind. #1's MANY LIES. We do need a pathway to citizenship. It's not hard to figure out that the crisis at the border **at this time** was administration made.
Many Hispanic immigrants do jobs that Americans refuse to do: Meat-packing plants, dairy farms, hog farms, picking of fruit, etc. I'm tired of people complaining that immigrants are "taking American jobs." Hell, Americans don't want those jobs anyway. Some jobs are being eliminated due to robots now being used more; the amount of robotics is suppose to increase quite a bit over the next 15-20 years.
I live down the street from Hispanics. They work at the same place my husband does (warehouse). They drive nice vehicles because they work. Our neighbors, on the other hand, they’re the real (govt.) thieves.
We need a pathway for citizenship put in place immediately. We don't have enough people. Baby boomers are retiring at record numbers, women are able to make the decision to have fewer children through more effective BC, the teen pregnancy rate is at an all-time low due to teens choosing to abstain from sex or using highly-effective BC, and I believe I read more people are going to college for tech jobs leaving many other jobs unfilled. ConDon saying our country is full is total BS; that's just him throwing red meat to his racist base and letting his true colors show. America has always been great; since his illegitimate presidency began, and I say it's illegitimate due to the FACT that Individual #1 admitted, on Twitter, on May 30th, that the Russians did help him get elected, hate crimes have increased. His blatant racism has given the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and White Nationalists a green light to come out of the dark corners. Also, everyone who missed it, Ind.#1 has already stated that he plans on accepting help from a foreign power to get re-elected. Let **that** sink in. He actually WELCOMES foreign countries to meddle in our elections. He's a disgrace and is beneath the office of the presidency.
The economy has now begun to slow down some. He’ll have all kinds excuses/lies as to the why. The American president is suppose to unite people, not divide people.
EDITED TO ADD: Soon he will be landing down in El Paso to show up and give lip service. That's all it will be; he's not capable of empathy or compassion. Remember, he was the one who replied to some of his HATE RALLY attendees, after they said that immigrants should be shot to stop the invasion (his constant word), that 'THAT'S ONLY IN THE PANHANDLE THAT YOU CAN DO THAT.' AND THEN HE LAUGHED AND SMILED.
Everyone needs to get out and vote in 2020, and make sure you vote AGAINST INDIVIDUAL #1.
He's now left El Paso and never once mentioned, on camera, the people who were killed or the survivors. Probably because he was too busy criticizing the officials in Ohio. And mentioning the love and the respect shown for **HIM**. Also, bragging about his crowd size from three months prior at his HATE RALLY. Wonder when he's going to pay El Paso the over $500,000 he owes them for security for that rally??? Unfortunately, it's obvious he hasn't a clue that, as President of the U.S., his words matter. We simply cannot unload this Putin-loving slime fast enough.
Also, just a little food for thought: This administration CUT government resources to fight white supremacy and domestic terrorism. Yeah, everyone is a lot safer on his watch, right? Must be getting a little too close to his base.

Well I can't argue with that logic.

The U.S. has room for immigrants and they are fundamentally no different than any other people.  Less likely to be criminals than native-born citizens.  Just as likely to do hard work and spend into the local economy and contribute more than they take as any American.

Pretending that immigrants are a "different" kind of people is white supremacy.  People are people.
