Help! I’m so afraid she’s going to get hurt.
« on: June 05, 2018, 04:02:35 pm »
Dd17 has her permit. We’ve been practicing driving for almost 2 years now. She is doing really really well despite the fact that she is blind in her right eye. She’s also had drivers ed.  We just scheduled her driving test for July 5. How do I get past the anxiety of letting her drive?

I should mention that her older sister(21) had 3 accidents in her first year of driving. I think that’s what is causing me so much stress. I just want to drive her around for the rest of her life(not really)

Is there anyway to make this easier?

I don't think so.  🤔

Mine is 15 and got her permit in December.

She is scared to drive.

She will not be getting her license  when she turns 16 if she doesn't start driving with mama!!!

I want to cry. She’s had loads of practice. I don’t know what my problem is.

That sounds really rough. Do you need to seek counseling for your anxiety? That might help, to re-frame the situation.

I really hope that autonomous drive safety features are pretty fine tuned by the time my kiddos are old enough drive. Both of my boys have limited peripheral vision on the left. So I want them to have a car that prevents the from pulling into another car’s lane.

I insisted mine drive with me in the car for a couple of weeks before they went out alone.
I don't really think there is anything that lessens our anxiety and fear of our newly licensed teenager driving.    Time is the only thing that helps at all.
Take a deep breath.  Good luck

When my daughter started driving around outside of the neighborhood, I got one of these magnetized bumper stickers from amazon warning the other drivers that she was a student driver.  It seems to help.
