Too soon?
« on: June 12, 2019, 09:41:18 am »
Our baby is 9 months old. DH and I want to go on a 5 night cruise to the Bahamas. Is it too soon for us to leave the baby with her uncle? Both our parents have passed away. She loves him.  Is it too soon to leaver her?

If you think he can handle her for 5 days. (Which I'm assuming is realistically 7 given travel time and all that. Correct me if I'm wrong.) Then I'd say go for it.

Have you ever gone away for the weekend?

Would taking her be out of the equation completely ?

How does she sleep without you there?

Could you have an overnight trial run before deciding on the cruise?

We have done overnights and a couple of weekends. We want the vacation to be just us and time for relaxation. I don't think a 9 month old would enjoy a cruise.

There is no way I would have left my daughter for 5 nights at 9 months old.  I would have had a miserable time.  I'd have taken her with us.

I would go for it. We left our youngest for almost a week when she was only four months old. Granted she is our sixth kid so I’m like eh.

We are going on the cruise! DH's brother and his girlfriend are going to watch DD. We are leaving on August 1st and will be back on the 6th. So excited! Can't wait!

how was your trip?

It was great! We got home about 2 hours ago! Both of us are much better off. We needed this vacation. At beginning of the trip we decided to stay off the internet and social media. My phone worked on the ship and we called home every evening. No problems here at home. From what her uncle and his girlfriend said DD was fine and didn't seem upset at all. She did let out a squeal when she saw us! Now time to finish unpacking and wash clothes. School starts back August 26th and I go back a week earlier. Summer slow down!
