Stephen King or Dean Koontz
« on: June 25, 2018, 08:14:35 am »
Which do you prefer?
I actually prefer Dean Koontz, though I've read plenty of books from both.

I just finished a book called Shelter in Place by Nora Roberts, the first chapter and the last chapter both made me cry. (And I'm NOT a cryer. I was actually like 'That made me cry?')

I'm starting a book called The Servants of Twilight by Dean Koontz today.

I read all the time, got away from it for awhile but I'm planning a book of my own and like to listen and study other writers writing styles to get myself going.

Furthermore, who are your favorite authors?
I love to read and need more suggestions

I read Dean Koontz's "Phantoms." It went from horror to more science fiction. I'm not much of a science fiction reader, so I prefer Stephen King. I just finished his book "Revival." "Servants of Twilight" could be interesting though.

I won't choose and you can't make me. LOL I love both and have read everything either of them have ever written. I buy their new books the day of release. If you want my list of favorite authors though I'll list those in another comment but get ready because I have a lot.

Which was your favorite book for each?
I really loved Twilight Eyes by Dean Koontz. I forward this book to anybody that asks for a book.

I don't do favorites because I love each one equally but if I had to choose it would be whichever one I'm currently reading.

Definitely Koontz although I haven't read either for a long time. King just tends to get a little too..raunchy?  Repetitive? I don't know how to describe it. I haven't read anything of his since insomnia I think. I got 150 pages in and had no clue what was going on and was annoyed,so I put it down and never went back.

I love them both. My favorite Koontz book is 'Watchers,' and my favorite King book is 'The Stand.'

I like a lot of Dean Koontz but his stuff is more hit and miss with me, so Stephen King is my favorite. Servants of Twilight is one of my favorites, though.

Brian Lumley, F Paul Wilson, Robert McCammon, Thomas Harris although I think he has just the one story to tell, and Michael Slade are all authors I really enjoy.

I was die-hard Koontz when I was younger. I loved Odd Thomas. I read an anthology once by King. The only short story I remember from it was The Apt Pupil and I haven't read anything else by him.
I've not had time to sit and read for a while. I enjoyed The Housewives Guide to Assassination a couple of years ago. I want to read on vacation this summer. Like ignore the boys completely and lose myself in some books.

I like both, but I think that Dean Koontz is a better writer than Stephen King is.

Try Ken Follet's 'The Pillars Of The Earth' - it is a fantastic book.
