Meal kits
« on: February 11, 2019, 03:24:05 am »
Has anybody tried the meal kits? Hello Fresh is an email I got. Are they good? Are they worth the price? I feed at least 7 people every day. The kids eat breakfast & lunch at school but dinner is at home.

I haven't tried them but the most they seem to be able to feed is 6 and it's rather pricey. I feed 6 daily, all of whom are teenager and beyond so the standard "6" won't work. Not to mention dh and I bring leftovers for lunch every day.

I double most recipes. My 3 teen-age boys eat huge amounts. The other two kids are not far behind. When DD is here she eats a lot too. There is DH & I too.

I'll probably never try them, I enjoy shopping and getting exactly what I want to create a meal. I think for those who do not have the time they'd be a good idea though.

I've thought about it, but have read from several reviews that the portions are pretty small compared to what the average American is used to. Not that that's necessarily  a bad thing, but going into it knowing that I'll get one USDA portion per person, I know that wont feed half of my family.  Seems like a waste if I will have to come up with additional sides to supplement.

I have not used them. But reviews aren't all that great for them on the local foodies group I belong to. They've tried several of the different ones offered.
The oranges of the island are like blazing fire
Amongst the emerald boughs
And the lemons are like the paleness of a lover
Who has spent the night crying.

My soul was ripped to shreds on 10/27/14.. I miss you!
