Yeah-no.  That is right-16 is really young.  Fourteen-no way in hell would I allow a kid to drive alone at 14.  Where the hell do you live that that state thinks that is ok?

SD messed up and has to take summer classes so she graduates on time. Summer class hours are different than normal hours. None of us can take her to school. The bus doesnt run this far out and it doesnt run for summer school anyway. We live 15 miles away from the school so walking or riding a bike isnt a viable option, there are no sidewalks or bike lanes.

Our state offers school permits and DH has already been practicing with her so she will have enough hours. She will legally be able to drive to school and back.

BM is not happy about it. She is saying she would rather SD redo another year than drive to school. We told her that she can drive here and drive SD to school if she doesnt like it but other than that SD is driving herself. BM works full time in the city far away so it isnt viable for her to get SD to school anyway.

I had the same type of permit, so did DH, and most of our friends. It really isnt that big of a deal. It is way more important for SD to graduate on time.

Adding to my original response, don't worry sd, you can do terrible in school and still get the privilege to drive. No worries! All that matters is that you graduate on time.


Mom is right, let the kid repeat, maybe she'll learn. She sure the hell won't learn anything this way.

And there are other ways to earn credit online. SO bs.
